How to Create Social Status on Plenty of Fish

The importance of social status in online dating is talked about very much in the pick up artist communities. It's about conveying your value in a way. How many friends you have, your career, your car, your house and how many women you can get.

I am a real woman and I run an online dating community for women. We do care about social status. For example, one woman made the observation today that a man texted her at 2 pm to say he had just gotten out of bed. This did nothing for his social status. She immediately thought of him as lazy and a loser. It didn't help that he also included he was thinking about her. He screwed up with that one little sentence and blew his chances. Didn't matter how much he was thinking about her, she now saw him as lazy.

The pick up communities will tell you to include picture of you with women in your profile. This is about the worst advice they could possible give. It's just stupid. Do you want to see us in pics with hot men hanging all over us. Does that make you want to mail us and get to know us or does it put questions in your mind that the answers wouldn't be very conducive to a relationship. If a hook up is all you are after, then go for it. From my experience though, guys really are searching for a special girl.

Just putting your social status out there on your profile in excess is like waiving a flag and saying pick me, pick me. If you have a nice car or a Harley, well save it and share these things in your emails in a humble graceful way. The shallow gold diggers may jump all over you with those blatant displays of social status, but a quality woman will pass you by. We do place value in social status, but trust me, if you can command the English Language and compose an email that gets us excited about you, it will go so much further. You social status will become the icing on the cake.

My most memorable online relationship had a high social status, yet none of that was in his profile. He dropped it in emails. He had a jeep,a Wrangler,the one that the top comes off of. He didn't come out and tell me. He just added it in a sentence that his jeep was taking him as fast as it would go. What did I do then? I asked him what kind of jeep and there was his opportunity to reveal his social status of fun and adventurous.

He went on vacation shortly after we met online. He didn't brag about where he was going, just sent me an email stating that he would be out of touch, he was going on vacation and would mail me upon his return. This again prompted me to ask. He replied "Fiji for 7 days". Again, confirming his social status.

I think the gurus do have some excellent advice, especially for guys that struggle with online dating and fear of rejection. I do think that social status means something to us gals. I don't think they quite have the delivery down right though of this social status. We like mystery. Less is more.
